多読 32：The Three Musketeers (Level:2)
懐かしい三銃士とダルタニヤン
先日、本の画面を開いた際はエラー表示になってしまっていた「The Three Musketeers（三銃士）」が、今度は開けるようになっていた。
そこで次はこの本を読むことに。
この話はとても懐かしい。
本で読んだのではなく、遥か昔にNHKの「アニメ三銃士」を観ていたので。
ストーリーも登場人物もまぁそれなりに覚えている。
三銃士＋ダルタニヤンが剣をシャキーンと空に向けて掲げて交差させながら
「一人はみんなのために、みんなは一人のために」
って言うんだよね・・・コレ、本に出てくるのかな。
それにしても「Foxton Readers」の本の表紙の絵って、本当に綺麗だ。

本の感想（ネタバレ注意）
・・・え～。何これ。
ものすごい「要約」感。
とにかく一つ一つの文章がブツッ、ブツッ、と出来事を羅列していた。
ト書きが並んだお芝居の台本って感じ。
「誰が何した」がずーっと淡々と並んで終了。
これは恐らく原作が悪いのではなく、英語学習者向けに書き直した書き手に問題があるのではないかと思う。
この感想は、「Moby Dick（白鯨）」と全く同じだった。
アレを読んだときは、話の内容からしてもまぁ淡々と事実の羅列をするのも致し方ない、と思った。
でも、違うな。
この2冊に共通しているのは、本のシリーズが「Foxton Readers」だということ。
そして、今まで気にしていなかった、書き直した人の名前を２冊それぞれチェックしてみたらなんと。
どちらも「Retold by C .S. Woolley」という、同じ人だった！
つまり、この人の書き直し本はこういうタイプの文章で、全く合わないということだ。
しかもこの本、内容も残念だった。
とにかく倫理が崩壊していた。
主人公のd’Artagnanは人妻と逢引きし（かけ）ているし。
女王も侯爵と不倫。そして気高く誇り高い三銃士たちは、女王の不倫発覚をもみ消すために活躍・・・。
そもそも浅はかな女王が不倫相手に愛の証として渡した証拠品は、ダンナさんからもらった贈り物！
それに本の中に何ヶ所か、お子様には読ませるべきではないオトナなシーンや残酷描写なシーンも。
さすがNHKが色々改編して子供向けアニメにしていたことがよく分かった。
なんだかなぁ・・・ガッカリだったなぁ。
<追記>
後日この本のIndroduction（本編の前の紹介ページ）をチラッと見たら、あらすじが書いてあり、一番下に
”All for one and one for all."
と記載されていた。
「一人はみんなのために、みんなは一人のために」の名言が、なぜ本編に無くあらすじにだけ書いてあるんだろう・・・。
