多読 25：Daisy and the Rabbit’s Tale (Level:3)

今度こそウサギ！

24冊目の「Mr Snap Learns a Lesson」が、前回書いた通りちょ～つまらなかったので、次はどの本を選ぶか迷ってしまった。
そろそろレベル３で読もうとリスト化している本もネタ切れに近く、物語しか興味が無いため、全部読み終えたら上のレベルへ行くしかない。
今のレベルが読みやすく楽なので、もうちょっと他にないものかなぁ・・・。

と悩み、性懲りもなくまたまたオリジナルストーリーを選択してしまった。
今度は「Daisy and the Rabbit’s Tale」。一つ前の「Mr Snap」と同じような本の表紙なので、同じシリーズらしい。
でもタイトルに “Rabbit" とあるから、「Mr Snap」の時とは違い今度こそウサギが出てくるはず。
別にウサギにこだわっているワケでは全くないけれど、本の説明に「大冒険にあこがれるハリネズミDaisyのかわいいお話」と書いてあるので、きっとキュートなストーリーに違いない！
と期待した。

知らない or あやふやな単語

　　ex) Daisy paddled backwards to try to slow herself down and steer clear of pointy rocks that were coming ever closer.

・wade：水中を歩いて渡る　[wéid]
　　ex) He started wading through the rapids towards her.

・stagger：ぐらつく、ふらつく　[stǽgər]
　　ex) Robbie carried her in his arms through the angry rapids, stumbling and staggering as he made it to the bank.

本の感想（ネタバレ注意）

わ、悪くはないけど・・・・・・。

まぁ・・・・・・こんなもんですかねー、という感じ。
ちっちゃな冒険好きハリネズミ少女と詐欺師のウサギの話。確かに可愛い。でも単純。
ウサギがでまかせの冒険譚を話しているのはすぐ分かるから、その後に特別なオチがないと、初めから話の最後が見えている。
そして実際に特別なオチはなし。
まぁ英語学習をする子供向けの本なんだから当然か。それをオトナが読んでいるんだもんね。

でもオリジナルストーリーはやっぱり懲りた。
まだ、ずっと前に読んだ頃のもっと短い物語の時は良かった。例えばレベル０の「Best of Friends」とか。
でもこうやってそこそこの長さの本になってくると、苦痛度が違う。
ということで、次は一般的な名作モノにしよう・・・。
