感想など 　※ネタバレ注意

前回、Simoneのオーストラリアアクセントにヒ～！となったが、今回はSimoneはほとんど登場しなかったのでその点は大丈夫だった。
でも聞き取りがとても難しいTahaniとJasonが主に登場する回だったので、やっぱりとても難しくて一通り勉強を完了するまでかなり時間が掛かった。

Jasonのセリフを英語字幕で学びながら、言葉の聞き取りだけでなく、ネイティブスピーカーの会話速度への慣れが必要だと思った。
せっかく語彙が拾えても、理解が付いていけないので結局分からないままになってしまってもったいない。
これからは歌でもニュースでも、何でもとにかく速いものを積極的に聴いていかないとなぁ、と思った。

また、Jasonの勘違い2ヶ所について日本語字幕に感心した。
まず、

“I want you thinking about dance 24/7. That means every day, you think 20 thoughts about dance for seven minutes,"

で、日本語字幕は
「四六時中ダンスだけを考える。つまり毎日4時から6時までずっとだ。」
となっていた。
英語ではJasonは “twenty-four-seven" を “twenty for seven" だと思って「7分間あたり20個のダンスを考えるということだ」と言っているのだと思うが、日本語でそのまま訳すとそうはならないから、上記のような訳にしたのかなぁ、と。
上手いね～。

もう一か所はSimoneがMRI検査をする前に閉所恐怖症かどうか確認するため、

“Hopefully, none of you is claustrophobic."
「閉所恐怖症の人は？」
と言ったら、Jasonが

“Claustrophobic? Who would ever be scared of Santa Claus? Oh! The Jewish!"

と言っていて、恐らく「クロース恐怖症」と勘違いしたのだと思う。そこを日本語字幕では

「塀が怖い人なんてどこにいる？刑務所の人か」

となっていて、なるほど～と感心した。

日本語字幕の上手さに感心するだけでなく、実際の英語のセリフから「きっとこう勘違いしたんだな」と自分で考えることも勉強になった。
