今月のテーマは「食事」
今月もクリスティーアンさんがゲスト。
対話カラオケで、リバプールのサッカースタジアムのフードスタンドスタッフと化したクリスティーアンさんが、試合で興奮して別人のようになっちゃっているのが面白かった。
注文時のやり取り、食べ物の呼び名
まずは食事がらみ。このあたりはつい最近、昨年度の終りの頃にテキサスやら何やらで結構学んだばかりな気がするけれど、まぁ忘れちゃうので良い復習。
それにしても、スティーブ先生が漬物好きなのは本当に良く分かった・・・"pickled vegetable"、過去に何回出てきたことだろう。。。

“I’ll have that one." ※店員の説明を聞いてから答えるときは"that"を付ける
“I’ll have salad on the side." ※付け合わせ：on the side（文末・文頭とも可）
“I’ll have some water for now."
“I'm thinking about this one OR this one."
“Actually, I’ll have this one." ※「やっぱりこれに・・・」のやっぱりが"Actually"
“That’s all for now.“
“Which would you like, iced coffee or iced tea?"
“May I have a hamburger without pickles?“

※"hot"より"spicy"の方が相手が聞き取りやすくわかりやすい
“I had spaghetti for lunch toady."
※「パスタ」と言わず、spaghetti, penneなどその種類を言う
“This spaghetti sauce has shiitake mushroom in it."
“This french fries are garlic flavored.“ ※フライドポテト：(米)french fries / (英)chips
“This hamburger steak comes with mushrooms." ※ハンバーグ：hamburger steak
食事の質問と感想、食事前後の声掛け
次は食事に関わる声の掛け方。
「デザートは別腹です」は以前番組で習ったのにすっかり忘れていた。
分からないと思うと、いつも “another stomach" と言ってしまう。違うのは分かっていても。。。

食後の感想
“It wasn’t very good."（あまり美味しくなかった）
“It wasn’t that good."（そんなに美味しくなかった）
“I’m pretty full."
“I’m stuffed."（お腹パンパンです）
“I have a room for desert."（デザートは別腹です）

“So, shall we begin?"
“Let’s begin."
“Let’s eat before it gets cold."
食事の後
“Is everyone finished?"
“It looks like everyone’s finished."
“So, shall we go?"
相手に何かを促す、相手を気遣う
最後は、相手に何かを促す表現＆相手を気遣う表現。とても便利。
ほとんどが知っていたり使い慣れていたりする表現だったけれど、"After you." は使ったことがない。
今度から使おう。
それにしてもジェントルマンのスティーブ先生が、とても優しい丁寧な口調で
「一番風呂を、あなたに。」
と言い出した時には、スイマセンが笑わずにはいられなかった！
可笑しくてしょうがないのは私だけ？
