「LA」と「L.A.」はどちらも正しいが、最近の英語では 「LA」 のようにピリオドを付けない表記が主流になっているから。
「L.A.」 は間違いではなく、古い（伝統的な）スタイルであり、今でも新聞や一部のメディア、正式文書などでは使われる。
なぜ L.A. → LA に変わってきたのか？
①スタイルガイドの変化
アメリカの主要メディア（AP通信、ニューヨークタイムズなど）は、略語からピリオドを省く方向に統一している。
（出版・ウェブ記事の効率化の流れで、シンプルな表記が好まれる傾向だから）
例）
U.S. → US（ただし国名は U.S. を使う媒体もまだある）
L.A. → LA
U.K. → UK
②固有名詞として定着した
「LA」 はもはやひとつの固有名詞として広く認識されているため、ピリオドなしでも誤解がない。
③ネットやSNSでの圧倒的な使用頻度
Twitter/X、Instagram、YouTubeなどではピリオドを付けない「LA」がほぼ標準。
