NHK英会話タイムトライアル2022年度10月
今月のテーマは「通信とSNS」
最近のタイムトライアルは、１年の間に１回、SNS絡みの英語の練習が入るようになった。
SNSをほぼやらない私でも、他の人との会話では大抵SNSが話題に上るのでとても役に立つ。
ただ今月は、「SNSアカウントを見せる」という言葉の表現があって、ちょっと良く分からなかった。
写真とかフォローとか・・・とスティーブ先生が言っているので、Facebookやインスタ等の画面を見せるということなんだろうか。

※全ての路面電車について訊くので複数形
“How can I connect to the Wi-Fi?" ※connect to/ access（前者の方が良く使われる）
“Were you able to connect to the Wi-Fi?" ※couldだと依頼に聞こえるのでbe able toで
“I was able to connect to the Wi-Fi, thanks to you." ※couldだと仮定法に聞こえるのでbe able toで

“I haven’t checked my email yet." / “I didn’t check my email yet." ※ここで言う “email" はメールのアプリや受信フォルダのことを指す
“I checked my email, but I didn’t see your email."（見当たらなかった）
“Would you check your junk mail?" ※迷惑メール：junk mail (folder)
