・white lie：罪のない・悪意の無い嘘
ex) I don’t want to tell even a white lie to her.
・obvious：明らかな・明白な [ɑ́bviəs]

・deceive：騙す [disíːv]
ex) The fact that he deceives her is obvious.
・please (someone)：(人)を喜ばせる
ex) His lie pleased his mother.
・make (someone) sad：悲しませる
ex) The truth made his mother sad.
・lie through (one’s) teeth：白々しい嘘をつく
ex) She lied through her teeth and told us she’s pregnant.
・take at face value：真に受ける／額面どおりに受け止める

レッスンの感想
ガイアナという初めて聞く国のS先生と初レッスンを行った。
可愛い声で可愛い雰囲気の先生だった。
今回のトピックトークは今までの各回と比べると新しい語彙・フレーズが少なくてホッとした。
まぁ多くても少なくても覚えられないのは変わらないけど。
ロールプレイで潔癖なAさんとウソに寛容なBさんとでやりとりをするのは、AさんはやりやすかったけれどBさん側は難しかった。
“white lies" と聞いて昔観た映画の「ホワイトライズ」を思い出し、懐かしいなぁと情報をネット検索したら、映画の本当のタイトルは"Wicker Park" という全く違うものだった。
このままのタイトルにはしづらいから、内容に合わせて「ホワイトライズ」にしたのかな。
内容を忘れてしまったのでもう一度観たくなった。
