今月の英会話タイムトライアルの旅はWild Wyoming
今月はWyoming州。
相変わらず、アメリカのどこにあるか全然分かりません、スイマセン。
会話練習の内容によれば、間欠泉があって、バイソンが道の真ん中にいて、クマに注意、な所らしい。
今回は学ぶフレーズ類が非常に多かった。
まずは緊急通報と山火事。実際今も北米やヨーロッパで大きな山火事のニュースを頻繁に聞く。
“The wild fire isn’t out yet."

鎮火する：be out
避難する：evacuate [ivǽkjuèit]
野生動物対応講座では、英語と動物対応の仕方が両方学べて一石二鳥だった。
“Never feed racoons."

“Be especially careful when you see baby animals."
イノシシ：wil boar
バイソン：bison（複数形も同じ）
クマ対策講座で学んだこと。
「走るな！」「叫ぶな！」「目を合わせるな！」
“Walk away in the opposite direction."

“Never make eye contact."
“Talk to yourself."
目を合わせる：make aye contact
次はお買い物。
模擬会話の中で、たまたま話しかけられた人に「買い物に行ってくるけど何か欲しいモノはある？」と訊かれていた。
いや～、会ったばかりの他人に「じゃコーヒーよろしく」とは言えないよね・・・。
“I’ll go (and) get a drink."

“I’m off to the concession stand."
“Can I get you something from the concession stand?"
“Would you like something from the concession stand?"
“Does the concession stand have coffee?"
“Some ice tea would be great if they have."
「初めてです/初めてですか？」の言い方と、到着や旅行中という言い方はとても重要。
“Have you ever been to Wyoming before?"

“Is this the first time for you to visit Wyoming?"
“Our family has never been/gone camping together before."
“I just got to Wyoming a few days ago."
“How long have you been traveling in the U.S.?"
“I’m on a journey across the U.S."
そして間欠泉。
水のペットボトル「クリスタルガイザー」で “geyser" を覚えられた。
“Japan has thousands of hot springs."

何千もの・何百もの：thousands of, hundreds of
間欠泉：geyser
噴出する：erupt
渋滞と到着時間。
個人的にはこれはとても重要で必ず覚えたい。
“The traffic is finally moving."

“It’s about 20 more minitues."
“We’re almost there. / We’ll arrive soon."
また、ロードトリップということで、でもいつでも使う重要な「色々大丈夫ですかね？」があった。
あとはトイレの訴えも大事・・・。

“Nature’ｓ calling."
“Can you hold it?"
“Well, I can hold it."
最後に（今回は本当に多い！）車の用語。日本語と違うものばかりで覚えるのが大変・・・。
特に自分の生活上必ず覚えたいのが以下の2文。
“Please don’t honk your horn."

ハザードランプ：hazard lights
クラクションを鳴らす：honk one’s horn
ウィンカー：turn signal
ハンドル：(steering) wheel
フロントガラス：windshield
ワイパー：windshield wiper
遠山顕の英会話楽習はトラブルだらけの小旅行
今月は「短い休暇」というテーマで、毎回少しずつトラブルだらけの小旅行の話が進んでいった。
相変わらず覚えることが多すぎた。
でもとても大切な１文があった。
“It was fun while it lasted." 「色々あったけれど楽しかった」

これはちゃんと相手に言ってあげたいから、とりあえずこれだけは覚えよう。
それ以外のフレーズは・・・・みんな右から左へと抜けていってしまった。
