予習
【今日のフレーズ】
I could swim when I was in elementary school.
We used to skate on a pond when we lived in Wisconsin.
【新or使い慣れていない語彙】
・drown：溺れ死ぬ [dráun]
ex) I almost drowned in a pond.
・owe：借りがある [óu]
ex) I definitely owe him one, don’t I?
・terrifying：恐ろしい（ほどの）、怖い
ex) That’s pretty terrifying.
・Apparently：見たところ［感じ］では～のようだ [əpǽrəntli]
ex) Apparently, someone saved your life.
・suffer：〔痛みなどに〕苦しむ、〔嫌なことを〕経験する、〔損害などを〕被る
ex) They suffered another attack when they were recovering from the incident.
・lift：〔物を〕持ち上げる
ex) I could lift heavy boxes when I was twenty years younger.
・immature：未熟な [ìmətúr]
ex) I used to express my anger a lot when I was young and immature.
・date ～：～とデートする
※date withと言わない。名詞のdateではgo on dates [a date] withと言える。
ex) I used to warn her when she dated older men.
・unforgettable：忘れられない、いつまでも記憶に残る
ex) Do you have any unforgettable memories？
【別の “when"の使い方（関係副詞）】
混乱するのでメモしておくと、前に「,」をおいて、「するとその時に」、「そしてそれから」、「ちょうどその時に」という意味がある。
ex) We got up at six, when I took a shower.
ex) I was about to go out, when he came to see me.
復習
【 “that morning" に “in" は不要？】
新しい語彙 “melt" の例文として載っている “The ice was melting that morning."
いつも “in the morning" と、"in" を付けているのだが、付けているのとないのとの違いは？と質問
→ 過去等特定の時を表すときは “this" “that" 等を使い “in" は使わない。いつもの慣例というときは “in the morning" となる。これは “evening" でも同じ話。
と聞いて「なるほどー！Thank you!」と言っていたら、Short ConversationのDirectionに
“Andrew saw Samantha staring into space at the café in the morning."
とあるので、「過去の話だけど “in the morning" になっているよ・・・？」と質問
→ それでも構わない。少なくともいつもの慣例の話の時に “this morning"とか “that evening" とは言わない
とのこと。

レッスンの感想
お気に入りの先生がみんな出払っていたので、レビューが良さげだった北マケドニアのY先生と初めてレッスンを行った。
とても穏やか～な先生で、つられてこちらも穏やか～にしゃべった。
Free Conversationで子供の頃の思い出をシェアしろとのことだったが、思い出すものの中で当たり障りのないものを探し、2,3歳の頃の洗車場の話をした。
きっと、発音初級レッスン1で"car wash""car wash"と連呼していたから、思い出すのに役立ったんだろう。
まぁちょうど語彙の復習に役立った。
